On May 18-19, 2024, in the ancient city of Samarkand, a major triathlon and paratriathlon competition took place: World Triathlon Cup Samarkand-2024 and World Triathlon Para Cup Samarkand-2024.
This event was of great significance as it was held for the first time in Central Asia.
More than 170 professional athletes from various countries competed in the World Cup on the Olympic distance, which included swimming - 1.5 km, cycling - 40 km, and running - 10 km.
The swimming stage was held at the rowing canal within the "Silk Road Samarkand" tourist complex.
The cycling stage of the race took place near the ancient architectural monuments of the city of Samarkand and was memorable for all the athletes.
Local residents came out to the streets to support the athletes.
The second day of the race was important for paratriathletes in six different categories, who also competed for prize places. These athletes demonstrated their strength of spirit and inspired many spectators.
The event became significant not only for local residents but also for triathletes who came to Uzbekistan to compete for the World Cup title.
