About the federation
  • 1991

    In 1991, a triathlon section was established at the Republican Sports and Technical Club for Water Sports. Since 1993, the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Tashkent has been holding triathlon championships.
  • 1995

    In 1995, a triathlon department was created at the Republican Center for Technical and Applied Sports of the Society for the Assistance of the Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan "Vatanparvar." In the same year, Uzbekistan joined the International Triathlon Federation and the Central Asian Triathlon Association. Athletes from all regions of the republic participated in the first sports events organized by the "Vatanparvar" Society. Competitions were held in Tashkent, Termez, Navoi, Karshi, Andijan, and Samarkand.
  • 2019

    On March 7, 2019, at the conference of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, a decision was made to create the Triathlon Federation of Uzbekistan. This provided a boost for the development of this sport. An important task became the preparation of a Comprehensive Target Program for the development of triathlon in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019–2024.

    On May 3, 2019, the Triathlon Federation of Uzbekistan was registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    - Since its establishment, the Federation has done extensive work to popularize triathlon as a mass sport. A national triathlon team has been formed. Athletes of the team have been provided with the necessary modern sports equipment, specialized uniforms, and tools for analyzing the physical condition of athletes;

    - A long-term program for the development of triathlon in Uzbekistan for professional and amateur sports has been developed;
  • 2020

    - On February 28, 2020, a memorandum was signed with the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports for cooperation in further improving triathlon based on training, scientific-methodological, and innovative technologies;

    - On December 10, 2020, for the first time in the history of the National Olympic Committee, the Triathlon Federation signed a memorandum with related federations: Cycling, Swimming, and Athletics. The goal is to increase internal competition among elite athletes in the Republic of Uzbekistan;

    - Since the 2019 academic year, a Triathlon Department has been operating at the Department of Theory and Methodology of Athletics at the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports;

    - On June 1, 2020, a Military section was opened at the "Dynamo" Sports Society of the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan to form the national team of Uzbekistan in military triathlon and involve structural units: military personnel of the Ministry of Defense, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Guard, State Customs Committee, and Security Service;

    - On October 11, 2020, a branch of the first free project for women triathletes, "WomenTriClub," was opened in Uzbekistan, founded by Elena Kun, the general secretary of the Triathlon Federation of Uzbekistan. To date, the club has more than 250 participants;

    - Together with the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, eight additional triathlon sections were opened in the system of sports schools in the country starting from the 2020/21 academic year. Currently, more than 150 children are engaged in triathlon in Uzbekistan;

    - Triathlon federations were opened in the Kashkadarya region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan;
  • 2021

    - On April 21, 2021, the "BeFitTri" club was officially opened for triathlon enthusiasts of all ages, aimed at involving the entire population in triathlon activities and promoting a healthy lifestyle;

    - During the 2020/21 year, the Federation held aquathlon competitions among children's sports schools as part of the selection of children's sports sections.

The Triathlon Federation of the Republic of Uzbekistan held events:

  • On May 5, 2019, an event called "Triathlon Sprint" was organized at the "Yoshlik" sports and wellness complex in Tashkent, where amateur athletes participated;
  • On July 7, 2019, for the first time, an indoor triathlon competition was held for amateurs at the "Be Fit Fitness and Wellness" fitness club;
  • In June 2019, at the Asian Cup in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, "Cholpon-Ata ASTC Sprint Triathlon Asian Cup and Central Asian Championships," three athletes from our team (Reshetnikov A., Ryazanova E., and Sadikova L.) won prizes;
  • In August 2019, the "Asian Cup - 2019 ASTC Almaty Triathlon Asian Cup" was held in Almaty (Kazakhstan), where 11 members of the national triathlon team of Uzbekistan in the elite category participated, improving their ranking points;
  • On August 30, 2019, A. Reshetnikov, a member of the national triathlon team of Uzbekistan, participated for the first time in history in the junior sprint distance competitions at the Grand Final of the World Series in Lausanne (Switzerland), which featured over 4,000 professionals and amateurs from around the world. He placed 4th among athletes from CIS countries, 5th among triathletes from Asia, and 54th among all juniors worldwide;
  • On August 24-25, 2020, triathlon competitions were held among military personnel in the Navoi and Khorezm regions;
  • On April 2, 2021, an "Indoor Triathlon" was held for military personnel at the "Matonat Sport Klubi" Sports Complex;
  • On November 8, 2020, the Uzbekistan Duathlon Championship was held for the first time using a modern timing system;
  • On April 18, 2021, the first stage of the Uzbekistan Duathlon Cup was held, with more than 200 athletes from all over the country, professionals and amateurs of all ages participating;
  • On April 24, 2021, Alexander Kurishov represented Uzbekistan at the Asian Triathlon Championship in Hatsukaichi (Japan) and took 11th place;
  • On June 5-6, 2021, the debut Triathlon Cup was held as part of the Central Asian Triathlon Association, with triathletes from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan participating. A. Kurishov, a member of the Uzbekistan team, won a gold medal, beating the Kazakh athlete by 22 seconds. SATA leaders noted the high level of organization of the competitions;
  • On July 3, 2021, for the first time, triathletes from Uzbekistan participated in the military triathlon championship "Ironman Lanzarote," held on the Spanish island of Lanzarote in the Atlantic Ocean. Uzbekistan's triumphant participation was sensational: National Guard member Alina Khakimova won silver overall among women and gold in her age category (19-24 years). Additionally, Uzbekistan placed 2nd in the team competition, behind the team from Russia. The podium for the team competition was: Russia (1st place), Uzbekistan (2nd place), and Belgium (3rd place). Alina Khakimova was awarded a license to participate in the triathlon world championship, which took place in October 2021 in Kona (Hawaii, USA);
  • On September 16-17, 2023, "Challenge Samarkand" took place — an event that changed not only the history of triathlon in Central Asia but in the entire world! This event became a true triumph, gathering more than 2000 participants, including the youngest athletes. All stages were held along a historical route near the most important attractions of Samarkand;
  • On May 18-19, 2024, the World Triathlon and Paratriathlon Cup was held in Samarkand. Trust in our country to host this tournament is the result of the high level of organization of the Asian Cup and other international competitions. The interest of foreign athletes is fueled by the fact that the route runs near historical sites. In the competition, 100 of the strongest athletes from 40 countries competed for victory. These include winners and prizewinners of the Olympic Games and World Championships;
  • On September 7-8, 2024, international triathlon competitions "Challenge Samarkand – 2024" were held. This is the second start of the international Challenge series in Uzbekistan. More than two thousand athletes from 25 countries participated, including the strongest athletes, world record holders, and Olympic champions.

Currently, the Triathlon Federation is implementing a five-year strategy for the development of triathlon among children and is working to popularize triathlon among enthusiasts of all ages to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The policy of our state is aimed at further developing triathlon in the country, focusing on creating a sports center for training triathletes, highly qualified specialists, and coaches. It also emphasizes building international relationships, collaborating with national federations, the International Triathlon Federation (ITU), the IOC and NOC, and expanding cooperation within the Central Asian Triathlon Association (SATA).
