Paratriathlon – An Important Direction for Uzbekistan
Paratriathlon makes sports accessible to everyone, creating equal opportunities for athletes with special needs.
Its development fosters an inclusive environment, inspires new athletes, and promotes an active lifestyle. Supporting paratriathlon is a step toward a more open and just society.
In recent years, the Triathlon Federation has undertaken numerous initiatives to advance paratriathlon in the country, including:
- On June 10–11, 2023, Uzbekistan hosted the Asian Paratriathlon Championship for the first time, with five Uzbek athletes competing and securing one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
- In collaboration with the Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan, a National Paratriathlon Team was formed to represent the country in official international competitions.
- Members of the National Paratriathlon Team have undergone classification to determine their competition categories for international events.
- Together with the Paralympic Committee, eight para-athletes and three coaches were sent to the 2024 Bishkek Asia Triathlon - World Triathlon Para-Development Camp for training and development.
- The National Team includes promising para-athletes with the potential to win medals at the 2028 Paralympic Games.
Additionally, on February 6, 2025, a training session for para-athletes was held at the Republican Center for Olympic and Paralympic Sports Training. The session recorded interim results to guide further collaboration between athletes and coaches in preparation for international competitions.
